Hello –
Welcome to my website! I have been teaching in the River Edge district for many years and this year will be my 21st year as an elementary school teacher. I have taught 4th grade at Cherry Hill School and Kindergarten at Roosevelt Elementary. I enjoy teaching in the primary grades and find great satisfaction watching my students grow and develop throughout the school year. I previously taught for three years at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in Northvale, New Jersey before coming to River Edge in 2006.
I am a graduate of William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature and a Master of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. I have also completed an additional 30 graduate credits in education from North Dakota State University.
I enjoy taking professional development classes through River Edge’s Learning Academy and attend numerous professional development opportunities throughout the school year and over the summer. I have participated in curriculum development in the areas of social studies, math, and science. Attending classes and learning new strategies which benefit my students are a passion. I am a lifelong student and will always be learning something new through professional development. In addition to my position at Roosevelt School, I teach in our WIN summer program.
My interests outside of school include spending time with my adult sons, listening to live music, gardening, yoga, kayaking, walking for exercise, pickleball, and snorkeling. You can find me hiking local trails in NJ & NY and taking quick getaways to Florida. I also enjoy relaxing at the Jersey Shore during the summer months. I recently adopted a two year old cat named Peach from a local River Edge family. She's as sweet as her name! To get to know me a little more, here are some of my favorites:
Color: Blue
Season: Summer
Book: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
Food: Sushi
Ice Cream: Light Chocolate Chip Mint
Quotes: I have two....."Nobody is Perfect" & "No Rain, No Rainbows"
My only true dislike is cold, snowy weather! Now that you have learned a bit about me, I am looking forward to learning more about each and every one of my new students! September is right around the corner, and I am eager to start the new school year!
Best,
Ms. Colleen Poole
